End of Year 2 and 3 reports
Your supervisory team will assess your progress at the end of your second year, and your third year for PGRs on a four-year programme.
This assessment will take the form of a written report. The content and style of the end of year progress reports should be agreed with your supervisory team.
Many PGRs will provide an update on their end of Year 1 Continuation/Transfer Report. This may now include a draft chapter or discussion of results/data collection. You will need to revisit your project timeline and set out your aims and objectives for the remainder of your project plan.
This assessment is required to ensure that you are still on track to complete your research and thesis within your programme and that the level of work being undertaken, and results being produced, are in line with the standards required for your degree. The Faculty does not expect that working on these reports will overly disrupt your ongoing research activities.
If your supervisory team has identified significant progression problems, they may request a formal annual review at the end of Year 2 (or Year 3 for four-year programmes).
This would follow the same format as the end of Year 1 Continuation Report and Viva and would be examined by independent assessors.
Approval to progress to the next phase of the programme would be dependent on this assessment of your report and viva.
