Health and safety training

Health and safety requirements and training will depend on your project and the type of research you are undertaking.

All PGRs will have to complete the University online training module PGR-IND001, which covers the basics of the University's expectations, fire safety, using computer equipment, and general risk assessment. You will also be invited to a general health and safety induction.

Health and safety training checklist

This online questionnaire is designed to establish which health and safety and other regulatory training courses you need to attend.

The checklist will be made available to you towards the end of your first month (or January for CDT PGRs) and you should discuss it with your supervisory team. Supervisors are required to sign it off prior to submission.

The checklist will ask whether or not you will be working with particular substances or performing certain activities, and this will enable the Compliance and Risk team to assess your training needs and then contact you to inform you of relevant courses.

It should be noted that, in most cases, these courses will be mandatory.
